Why have a family photoshoot?

J+F+B family photography session at Botanical Gardens, spring 2024.

We’re always going to be the biggest advocates for family pictures but not just because of Kith and Kin but childhoods made of parents snapping away, documenting us growing up and looking back on those pictures behind those cellophane pages of an album. I love the nostalgia of pictures and by this I don’t just mean the ones you take on your phone or that are kept online but the ones you want to print and have on your walls or create albums with (what to do with your prints is a whole new blog post). Having family photos can be a fun and when professionally done, are a great way to capture the essence of your family life and precious interactions with loved ones.

While the idea of gathering everyone (especially young kids) for a photoshoot can seem daunting, with a little preparation, it’s good fun! Here some reasons you should book and family photography session with us.

  1. I know it’s a cliche but time goes so fast when you have children. A professional family photoshoot gives you the chance to pause and appreciate a particular stage in life. You won’t get that time back!

  2. Pictures taken on your phone just aren’t the same plus someone is always missing as they are the one taking the shot. Having a photoshoot done by someone else allows everyone to be part of the picture. It’s having someone there to capture those spontaneous family moments and someone with the professional skills and trained eye to create great images.

  3. Family photoshoots are perfect for celebrating big life events - birthdays, anniversaries, or the arrival of a new sibling. We’ve done lots of shoots now to document families getting together for the day or weekend, especially when coming together from overseas. They are equally great for everyday moments too and that’s why we use relaxed outdoor settings so they don’t have to be elaborate or overly planned - they are designed to reflect you and your family

  4. Print, Print Print!! When you have professional family photos taken, they are worth printing as personalised artwork. Large prints of your family can make great wall art for your home. They also make great gifts for grandparents.

  1. Family photography session can be a fun family activity. Our shoots aren’t just about posing and smiling for the camera. Our session take place in some great locations Sheffield and the Peak District so it’s a chance to get outdoors, explore, have fun and spend quality time with each other.
